DesignerONE :: Award Recipients

IPPA DesignerONE Award was presented periodically to recognize the most influential and cutting edge individual designers working in Internet and New Media. Each demonstrated truly innovative design talent and vision. Their individual portfolios include some of the most brilliant and inspirational sites online and they were the designers of that era that others would follow for inspiration.

 

2001-2003 DesignerONE Awards:

 

Hillman Curtis (Hillman Curtis Design)

A decorated veteran of Flash, Hillman Curtis has emerged as one of the most influential Flash animators on the web today. With a portfolio that includes clients like Iomega, 3Com, HP, and British Airways, Hillman has cemented his position as one of the top personalities in new media.

 

Joshua Davis (Kioken)

A senior Technologist at Kioken, Joshua has provided some of the most compelling Flash design solutions on the web. His work has been featured in PRINT and in numerous other design publications. His latest works include Flash designs for barneys.com, motown.com, and badboyonline.com.

 

Daniel Jenett (Razorfish)

A former creative director for RazorFish Hamburg, Germany, Daniel has worked on such notable web projects as the AudiTT.com and The Remedi Project. Daniel is now located in Los Angeles and working on the creative bridge between broadband and iTV for RazorFish.

 

Brad Johnson (second story)

Brad is founder and top creative director of the studio boutique firm, Second Story, based in Portland, Oregon. One of the most emulated designers working in New Media today, Brad’s work has defined feature story design, new strategies in layout and content, and graphic style in the web. His clients include such names as National Geographic, Contax Cameras, Kodak and PBS.

 

Jaime Levy (electronic hollywood)

CEO & Founder of ElectronicHollywood, Jamie a New York based animation and interaction media specialist. Jamie has been at the forefront of new media since its inception and has produced Flash and game designs for such notable clients as HBO, Miramax, Ericsson and MTV.

 

Bart Marable (terra incognita)

Founder and creative director at Terra Incognita, Bart is one of the most influential designers in the field of interactive story telling and online infotainment design. Although his studio is based in Louisiana, his client list and groundbreaking work ranges from National Geographic to the National Park Service and NASA.

Jerry Mica (fusive)

As a new art director for Fusive, and formerly with Capstone Studio and Digital Minute, Jerry has been involved in the creation of many experimental internet/intranet solutions for such clients as KPMG Consulting, and Goldman Sachs, to name a few.

 

Yugo Nakamura (business architects inc.)

Yugo Nakamura was originally educated in civil engineering, landscape design, and architecture before entering into Internet design.  His work was first seen in an international forum at the FlashForward2000 Conference in New York and he has since continued to advance his thinking and creative approaches to online design. Matt Owens (one9ine)

As the former creative director for MethodFive, Matt helped develop sites for Apple, Toshiba and others. Since then, he has launched the experimental design project volumeone.com and is involved with the design firm one9ine whose clients include MTV, Nike, and the SciFi Channel.

 

Todd Purgason (juxt interactive)

An Architect turned Graphic Designer, Todd is the owner and founder of Juxt Interactive, a design firm that has defined a unique and award-winning style. His work in Flash has soared to the top of the field, resulting in dozens of major awards.

 

Josh Ulm (ioResearch)

One of the web’s leading Flash designers, Josh has appeared at both Flash Forward and web200. Josh has also collaborated with Lynda Weinman on the Advanced Flash 4 Instructional video series. Recent works include the Flash design work on the Bill Bowerman feature for Nike.
